Ullswater is known for its stunning beauty and is the second largest lake in the Lake District after Windermere. It stretches for approximately 10.5 miles in length, with a width of 1.125 miles, and reaches a depth of around 95 meters. Its tranquil waters and surrounding picturesque landscapes make it a favorite among both visitors and locals alike.
Kirkstone Pass is a well-known mountain pass in the Lakes, and boasts an altitude of 1,489 feet, making it the highest pass traversed by road, which reaches a gradient of 1 in 4 so you may be glad that you're not driving! The on Kirkstone Pass are amazing and not to be missed!
Castlerigg at Keswick, is perhaps one of the most atmospheric and dramatically sited stone circles in all of Britain. Its location offers breathtaking panoramic views with the majestic mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat serving as a stunning backdrop. This ancient circle, dating back to around 3000 BC during the Neolithic period, is not only among the earliest in Britain but also holds a significant place in history and archaeology.
Honister Pass is a mountain road that links the beautiful Borrowdale Valley to the southern end of Buttermere. More amazing scenery awaits as you meander through this remote, but breathtaking pass.
The Yew Tree at Seatoller dates back to 1628. We'll stop here to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.
(Food and drink at The Yew Tree is not included in the package)
Keswick is a bustling market town in the North West of the Lakes. Surrounded by mountains like Skiddaw, the town includes tourist hotspots like; The Cumberland Pencil Museum, the Keswick Museum & Art Gallery, Castlerigg Stone Circle and many other highlights.
Thirlmere is actually a reservoir that supplies Mancester. It's overlooked by the famous skyline of Helvellyn ridge which lies to the east of Thirlmere. To the west of Thirlmere are a number of fells including, Armboth Fell and Raven Crag both of which give views of Thirlmere.
Nestling at the foot of some spectacular fells and with its own lake, this village has many shops, pubs and cafes. It's home to the legendary Grasmere Gingerbread and Dove Cottage, the home of William Wordsworth and is also his final resting place.
Rydal Water is a small body of water located between Grasmere and Ambleside in the Rothay Valley ... it may be small, but it defiantly worth a visit.
